The breakfast area is beautifully adorned with artistic touches.
The room had a significant mosquito issue, which affected the comfort of our stay.

Absolutely perfect position.
Nicely furnished and brand-new rooms for extra comfort, free Wi-Fi. Variety of fresh bread, cereal, pastries and fruit at breakfast.

Room was spotless. Excellent location for sightseeing and shopping. Walking distance to all the main sights and shops including Euralille. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very quiet room.
Breakfast is poor value and the room didn't have tea/coffee making facilities.

This hotel is a great option for those who want to stay close to everything in the city. Located within the walls and in the bustling Wazemmes market, guests are steps away from all the shopping, restaurants, and great exhibitions at Palais des Beaux Arts. Despite being in the heart of the city, the rooms are quiet and comfortable with friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast served daily. the hotel offers easy access to public transportation and some rooms even provide a view of the city.

the location close to the station and quite in the centre of town ; the style of the hotel, which is not one in a dozen

The hotel is situated close to the old town and pedestrian area, so great for sightseeing. The Grand Place and Tourist Office are conveniently close. It is a 10 minute walk from Lille Flandres Station and not much further from Lille Europe, so walking is worth considering, as the taxis get caught up in a nightmare of traffic and one-way systems. Our room (No. 101) was comfortable, spacious and well furnished, including a fridge/mini-bar which was reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and served in a pleasant room, though I would always prefer a pavement cafe to start the day.
No air conditioning in the room - though I believe there was in the public areas. We were in a heatwave at the time, so this was an issue. The road at the front of the hotel is unbelievably noisy, so opening the window caused more problems. Also, there is a real problem with mosquitoes; we were both badly bitten on the first night and bought a repellent spray - only to later find one already in the bathroom (either provided by the hotel or a previous occupant?) Even this didn't solve the problem entirely, so best to be prepared!

Art Nouveau interior, central stairway with carved details, cozy common areas
Rooms need better air conditioning options!!! Awkward layouts reduce functional space!!! Old carpets contribute to musty odors!!! Maintenance issues suggest a need for consistent upkeep!!! Parking information lacks clarity!!!

The hotel is within walking distance of the Grande Place so really close to all the shops. I really liked the stairs and the olde worlde feel, whilst surrounded by modern comforts.

We really enjoyed the lovely decor and friendly staff, but the breakfast could've used more variety, and the room was a bit cramped. Still, a pleasant stay!

The stay was primarily for attending the Olympics, and while the location made it easy to explore nearby attractions like the Fine Arts Museum, the experience was overshadowed by some serious issues. The room was clean but had a broken shutter blind, making it hard to ventilate during the heatwave. The staff's response regarding the window issue was less than satisfactory, as I needed to retrieve a fan myself. the breakfast service was welcoming and the ambiance had its charm.

I've been staying at this hotel since 1991, and I like the way it has retained its character in spite of being considerably up-graded over the years. The bar is a good addition. I like the mesh on the windows - there is a problem with mosquitoes in Lille. Reception staff are always welcoming - a real Ch'ti welcome, not a plastic American smile.
Bed was too soft. No catch on the window to allow us to leave it slightly open for air.
